198. Goodnight, Night Sky

Published on 15 December 2016 at 14:49

I watched as my whole life

suddenly turned upside down,

where I was standing on the sky,

and I could not touch the ground.

Left was no longer right,

and right was no longer wrong.

Dark had become light,

and short had become long,

or was it long that was short?

And day that became night,

where the Sun shone bright,

to lighten up the starless sky,

where all the stars once lived.

And all of them, it seems, have died,

though, I am not entirely sure why.

If we are all still here, then

they should, at least, be near.

And if there are no stars at night,

who will be there to light up the sky?

Who will be there to tuck me in tonight?

This isn’t fair, this isn’t right,

why’d all the stars in my life have to die?

And I didn’t even get to say goodbye…

I never had the chance to say goodnight.

So… Goodnight, night sky.
