242. A Stranger Reality

Published on 16 September 2017 at 20:55

I crashed my magic broom

into a glowing paper moon,

where sparkling streams flowed

as white as a winter snow,

and where spring flowers bloomed

all the colors of the rainbow.

There were marshmallow treetops

aside these mushroom-like lollipops

that I thought I could harmlessly eat,

but then I was suddenly lifted from my feet,

and brought towards the cosmic sea

of pleasantly dreamy dreams.

I hovered carelessly through the sky,

as I could not believe my very own eyes.

I looked around at all that I saw,

and wondered, could these be my thoughts?

Perhaps it was a mental breakdown,

which would explain the purple clouds.

Or perhaps it was merely a dream

of a once loved but now lost memory.

Then the clouds turned into hot air balloons,

which made me think I was in a cartoon.

I’m not sure how I ended up there,

or why I came to a pair of floating stairs.

The two stairs went two different ways,

one was of tomorrow, and the other of yesterday.

Where I stood then was where today lay,

but when I reached it, I was much too late.

I’d already gone up the wrong set of stairs,

to where I met some cotton candy gummy bears.

We basked in the sunset of another tomorrow,

as we borrowed time, to cope with our sorrows.

And then the gummy bears began to disappear,

in which I thought, the end of my dream was near.

I knew now that I’d soon wake up from this dream,

and end up back in what is a stranger reality.
