238. Happy Valley

Published on 2 September 2017 at 20:49

I saw my reflection in the mirror,

and I touched it as it led me astray.

I fell into a mysterious world before me,

and my, was it quite the strange place.

From the mirror, I stood there in awe.

I looked all around me, rather curiously.

I wasn’t quite sure what I had done,

but I knew I stepped into a different reality.

The world held all the colors of the rainbow.

Polka-dotted mushrooms grew all around,

streams of strawberry syrup flowed through a valley,

and raisin-like seeds fell to the ground.

Small critters ate berries that fell from the trees,

berries that were the size of forest fairies,

and the fairies there fluttered like humming bees.

It was quite unlike anything I had ever seen.

I then saw a gnome under a tree, playing a melody.

So, I asked him where I would find myself,

but he only said that the answer was within,

and then I caught sight of a nearby wishing well.

I made a wish and placed it in my pocket,

and I knew that it would always be there.

Even in such a strange place as this,

I knew that I would never again be scared.

I placed the wish in my pocket inside a locket,

and I locked it so that it would remain forever.

A promise that I would keep to myself, always,

until I found myself floating on a feather.

I would float towards a shooting star,

and ride it all the way to the moon,

with a wish and a feather in my pocket,

and a gnome that knows how to play a tune.

The fairies that flutter like humming bees,

and the critters, still eating their berries,

all came together, and followed me home.

We all marched down the happy valley.

We then sang our songs and tunes,

and we danced along, ever so merrily.

I knew then that this was the first time

that I’d ever truly been this happy.
