You can’t change how others see you,
But you can change how you see yourself.
Even if you’re unsure where to begin,
all you have to do is look within,
and pull your heart out,
from the bottom of the well.
The well is deep,
And your heart’s been drowning.
But that’s okay,
Because it’s still breathing.
You just have to know,
how to pull yourself up.
Because it’s easy to destroy,
to self-destruct, to end things—to never begin,
But that’s not the way you’ll win,
but rather how you fall further behind,
And then you attribute yourself to nothing,
And if you begin to think like that,
you may not wish to live.
It’s a sad reality, to say the least,
but it’s the one we were given.
And to that I’d say I’m glad to be alive,
because living in such a world,
I can say, is a beautiful surprise,
because I don’t think anyone actually
wants to die—and neither do I.
